Actually, the Ludinator got it at the Library one evening when he picked me up and I read it after him. It's called "A Lifetime of Secrets" by Frank Warren. He's written several other "secret" books, but I have this one in my hand. He has a blog http://www.postsecret.com/ which reads like the book. For the past three years, Frank Warren has invited people to send him creatively decorated postcards bearing secrets they have never before revealed. In this book he presents those postcards and it makes for an interesting read. The submissions are shocking, sad, bizarre, painful, endearing and funny at the same time. I was moved by one submission which is why I decided to write and share the book with you. One person submitted a postcard that read:
"I've put off telling my mother that I am depressed and need help...'cause I'm afraid she'd be angry I'm not the perfect daughter she thinks I am...."
I guess because I have two daughters, I was very moved by this revelation. That there really is someone out there that needs to live up to a standard so high that she can't ask her mother for help nearly makes me cry.
I am so glad that we have raised strong people.
