HOLY SCRAP..............

It's the 6th Scrappy Day..........coming up!
Saturday, October 3rd.

Get your reservation in now!

So, let's see.......where was I?

OH, Greg & Kathy's daughter, Kim got married...on my birthday......it was a fun time.

The next day, we drove to New Jersey to hook up with friends to go on a cruise out of New York City to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. While in NJ, we took time to have dinner with Lude's brother Bob and his girlfriend, Chris. We cruised with Paula, John & Nelson and the weather was fantastic. It's an iffy time of year in that region and the couple of days before we left we were putting shorts in, taking shorts out, putting jeans in, taking jeans out....sweatshirts in/out. You get the picture! But we were blessed with wonderful weather. Here's a couple pictures from that trip.

While in New Brunswick, I finally got the much coveted, fresh lobster and it was DELISH!

While in Nova Scotia, we visited a Victorian Garden that was having a special Dahlia exhibit. I took lots of Dahlia pictures for my boss, Cindie - she grows magnificent Dahlias. When we returned, we drove down to Marietta for Erica's wedding which was on Lude's birthday. Oddly enough both weddings (Kim's and Erica's) honored us both with birthday cakes that looked remarkably like wedding cakes.....but who cares! Why does Erica look so young, but so old!?Eric & Matt Nicholson
That's it for now........

kClare's Got Herself Some New Digs..........

kClare moved into a new apartment this semester. (My kids are always on the move! I guess that's okay.....they're happy!
Here are a few pictures she sent to my phone!
It's a nice set-up....each girl has their own room and bathroom with a good sized kitchen, living area as well as a study room equal to the size of the living area for them to each have a desk.

Kathleen is knee deep in wedding preparations.....................HA, scared ya! She's the lead costumer for A PERFECT WEDDING at ISU which opens this week. So, that's right, it's production week......panic week......we're so proud.
Here's a couple of the costume pictures that I stole from the photo evidence page of her website http://www.kclare.com/ - more to follow as I get them!

Break a leg.......or is it "bust a seam" now ? !!!!
I will be thinking of you everyday this week and hoping that everything goes well. I wish I could be there to see it! I'm very proud of you and I know you're grandmother would just be tickled pink!
Be proud.....don't take any grief......give 'em heck......have a ball!
Love you, kClare.................Mom

The Brit!

My cousin, Simone came to America for a visit recently. She is the daughter of my father's sister, Julia and she lives in England (which thrills my nephew, Owen, to high heaven) and although we were quite young the first couple of times we met back in Ireland, I do remember her vividly.

And, all the years and years that we have tried to stay connected has never been easier and better since Al Gore invented the internet!

We are able to keep up with family so wonderfully through email, pictures sent through email, facebook, blogs etc. There literally are no surprises when you finally get to see a relative after not having seen them for about 30 years.

That's how it was with Simone. Although I haven't seen her since she was a child there was no surprise when I finally got to see her upon her arrival here. It WAS the Simone that I'd seen on facebook and through emails.

But, I believe that she had a marvelous time while here. Vacations are always wonderful - she said that one of the best things about her trip was being with all the family. I'm sure we might say the same thing about being there - spending time with her and her girls.

But, we sure did hit a lot of pubs and we ate! and we went to Cedar Point. We also went downtown to Pickwick and Frolic to Hilarities (which was hilarious, thank you very much, Mike and Last Call Cleveland) for some great laughs. The Oldest Boy Band.....never to be forgotten!

Here are a few pictures from my visit with Simone.

It was really great to have this time to visit with you Simone!

Come back soon.

Has it Been a Month Already?

Has it really been a month since I posted last? I can hardly believe that. As always, so much has happened in this past month and it has just flown by. It's funny, when I was counting down to vacation, the days didn't fly by that fast!
And actually, I haven't really posted since the beginning of August, so I'm very behind.
And, now it is September? Does September really follow August? or did someone change that while I wasn't looking.

The month of August was jam-packed. I needed to watch my calendar closely in order to keep it all straight. All good things! of course!

The month of August began with the Dublin Irish Festival......and I say, again, it was wonderful. A definite must for August 2010!
Later that week, we took a trip to one of our fav pizza parlors: Danny Boy's in Rocky River. We went with friends, Pat & Gerry and afterwards we were treated to one of Gerry's cheesecakes over at their place. As always, it's a good time with the Danzey's.

I was fortunate to do another scrapbook program for the Berea Branch in August. Our library's summer ready theme is eco....or "going green". The scrapbook program was based on using discarded or leftover items on your scrapbook pages. I provided a number of creative ideas for the attendees, but in reality, all they wanted was to come and scrapbook! But, that's okay!
Here are some of them......working away............
And the highlight of the month of August was my trip to Chicago to be with the girls. jJoy came home on the MegaBus on a Wednesday evening and we packed up the car (with more of her shitte) and headed off together on Thursday morning. We kept in contact with kClare as we were driving and she left Normal, IL in time to meet us at J's apartment in Lincoln Park.

J shares her apartment with friend, Nikki, (Jess, Nikki and kClare are pictured below) and I think they're going to be very happy there. Both girls are Second City people, so they have lots in common.
It was air-show weekend in Chicago, so the city was all abuzz, especially down where J lives. There's one street and the Lincoln Park Zoo between her and the lake.....which is where the air and water show took place.

Her apartment is very cute and by the time I left there, it was even cuter. She doesn't have her car in Chicago, so I drove her out to the IKEA in Arlington Heights so she could shop (for more shitte!) and her place looks great. Here are a few pictures.....look at that little tiny stove!!! How cute is that?

It's definitely a place for young people though becuase it's on the 4th floor of an apartment building with NO elevator! This is a shot I got outside her door looking down to the first floor. Needless to say, after a couple of times up those steps, I just waited at the bottom for the girls!
While in Arlington Heights, we went to the Metropolis Center for the Performing Arts which is where kClare was a costumer. She got to visit with friends and we all got to see the Second City Show, appropriately named "Girls Night Out". It was a true girls night out. Jess will be performing in that show over the Labor Day weekend.
That's all for the moment..............every day that goes by, the behinder I get!
But, I'm getting there!
Stay tuned.
