KEMOCK PIZZA NIGHT
Lude's nieces and nephews all lead such busy, busy lives.....soccer, school, basketball, pokemon...whatever!  Every once in awhile, we have to get together and just catch up.
Thus, Kemock Pizza Nights!

The kids are playing wii

The adults are catching up!

Tonight Lude and I are going to a reception for the newly constructed Olmsted Falls Library Branch.  While I had hoped for something bigger than 6000 square feet (?), we are pleased that our community is getting this new space.  I worked at the original branch for over 17 years and towards the end, it was not operating the way a library of this age should.

OK....for real....that was my last attempt!
It's like the proverbial "letting go of the butterfly"
.....it was nice while it lasted!   I tried.....

Happy Birthday to my favorite other "mother-in-law"
I hope you are having a great day!

Last night I attended St Clarence's Mardi Gras fund raiser.  It's an event that Lude hasn't been so keen on going to, but I've always wanted to check it out.  This year I am going with friends Pat and Patty.  Pat's Mom recently passed away and this will be a very fun outing for her, I think!  Girls night!

What a variety of costumes and none more colorful than Father Neil's!

I won the bid on a Creative Memories book and Crop package which I am anxious to use.

A few pictures from Mardi Gras.....I took some very FUN pictures of the "Dance of the Gold Lame" but you honestly do NOT want to see those pictures!!!!  Ask me and I will send them in a brown wrapper!

Are you ready for some football!?

SUPER BOWL Sunday is usually a lot of fun.  There are years where we will just sit home in front of our own TV and then there are years we will go out to parties.  We've had a number of Super Bowl gatherings and this is one of those years.  Some of the neighbors are coming over and I've cooked up some chili and tossed a salad.  Simple but fun.  We often aren't as interested in the football part as we are in seeing the new commercials and the half time show.  This year, there was no hype about "what new commercials to expect" and I had to google this morning WHO was playing football and WHO the halftime show was.  So, let's face it......it sometimes is more about the getting together and eating chili and corn chips than the game.

Lude projected the game on the wall in living room color because our regular TV is upstairs and rather than ask people to go up and down, this worked well.

The game was actually pretty good especially the last quarter!  I thought that San Francisco would pull ahead of Baltimore in the finish, but it wasn't to be!

February 2nd.......one more wintery month to go and we'll turn the corner toward spring once again!  Actually, February can be the worst winter month here in the Midwest.  The last two months of 2012 were very mild....like the ones we have experienced in the past many years.  But this January leaned more toward our regular winters.  It was a day off for me today and while I intended to get out to the store for our super bowl party tomorrow, I sat inside and watched it snow ALL day long.  Lude is teaching this weekend, so the house is empty and quiet.

A good way to spend a Saturday.

What a wonderful birthday present!

Well, he actually gave me my choice after he presented the gift to me:  a weekend in Las Vegas or an all-inclusive resort!  Yay, which one would YOU pick!?

On my birthday last September he took me to lunch and we ended up at the travel agency and got so many options to choose from, our heads were spinning!  We've always wanted to try the all-inclusives, but never took the time to do it.  She gave us some preliminary information to start an informed search and home we went to figure it out.

We decided on the Dominican Republic and then quickly narrowed it down to Punta Cana.  In late October we returned to the travel agency with our deposit and booked five days at Dreams Palm Beach.  We wanted the total package including air because the month of January can be terrible for travel from Cleveland and the airlines are less than gracious about helping you out anymore.  We asked for an "ocean view" room because while we didn't expect more than a sliver of a view when you "lean out real far over your balcony", but we figured if we had an ocean view, we would be at least closer to the beach than the front of the resort (which they say is huge) and getting there would not be such a chore.

We wanted to go right after the first of the year, a little "post-wedding-happy birthday-wind-down-r&r" but the girls decided to go to the Dominican Republic also and well, how weird is that....going on honeymoon with your kids?  Still, it was such a treat to pack our shorts and t-shirts in late January!

We also upgraded to Frontier airlines' equivalent of first class because the seats are roomier.  But it includes all the travel perks afforded to first class passengers like early boarding, meals, free drinks etc.  That was a nice treat.

When we arrived at the resort we got in line with the other guests and they scurried over to retrieve us saying that we were priority guests and that we should come with them....a little scarey actually because we didn't know anything about this!  But, apparently, when you book an ocean view room or greater, you become priority and again, got all the perks that you could LOVE.  Our own section of the resort with pool and the only hot tub in the complex.  A clubhouse with free internet (which Lude had decided he was paying for!), library, game room, bar, concierge, snacks and basic 24 hour service.  The section of the beach attached to the priority club was also private.

All in all, we had a GREAT time....the weather was much hotter than we dreamed.  The food was good (not great), the language barrier was exhausting at times, and the shows were not good at all.  It sounds like we didn't have a good time, but quite the opposite.  In my previous post I said:

Beach
Book
Bathing Suit
Biccardi
Bountiful Feasts
Bed
Repeat.......it all was true!

Here are a few pictures:

They upgraded us to a suite...Lude calls it the "100 man shower!"
