Today we had lunch with some folks that Lude went to high school with. John and Kathy Jurcisian and Mike and Sue Yaker. We usually see them a couple times a year and they're nice folks to spend time with. This Christmas, we went to the Union Depot in Berea for a lovely lunch and to catch up with all that they're doing! They're excited for us to welcome our first grandchild! They're 'ole pros at it. We really need to take Steven here - he would love all the trains.

We didn't have anything to do the weekend of Thanksgiving, so we decided to drive up to Chicago to visit the girls! It was fabulous weather for the trip as well as in Chicago. The girls did a Turkey Trot on Saturday morning and then we went to Kriskindlemarket and I made a turkey pot pie for dinner. Lude and I returned early on Sunday!

I'm so grateful to have so many of the old pictures of my Mother and Father! This scrapbook page contains a picture of my Mother, Sally and her good friend, Irene McCarthy (who was later in her bridal party). It was taken on the day of my Uncle Marty's high school graduation. Don't they look like they're ready to stir up some serious trouble? Are they fighting over that handbag?
I miss her so much.

I've been wanting to get to Philadelphia to visit Patrick and his family, but something has always come up. My niece, Sarah, said she was driving to Phillie over Halloween weekend and I said that if nothing else came up that I would travel with her and Steven. But, I asked my nephew Patrick, to keep it a surprise from Jill!! What a surprise. I'm not sure that I've heard anyone scream that loud before. Steven did so well in the car - he had a rough time while we were there, but, he's only two! Here is one of the 2-page layouts that I created from that weekend! The kids are all so cute, I couldn't decide which pages to post.

Attending the NAFC conference in Portland, Oregon was a win-win for me! I'm going to get to see my lovely niece, Moe and this little sweetheart!!!! The city of Portland was delightful, I was pleased to learn that they were enjoying Indian summer while I was there. It was nice to catch up with old friends in the Feisanna world as well as make the acquaintance of some really fun new people. We enjoyed a great meal at Kell's Irish Pub and then toured around the city with Jeri and Pat before returning home.

I could say, "I couldn't be prouder of you, Jessica" on this, your birthday! But, that's not true. Every single day, I am prouder of you. I love how well you do, when it isn't easy; I'm impressed by all you do! Keep on being the wonderful, creative, sweet girl that you are!
Happy Birthday, sweet girl.

Kara and Mark are the bravest people! I'm sure they'd rather not be known as the bravest; I'm sure they'd rather things go back to the way they were. But, life has dealt them a tough hand - but one that I am certain they will triumph over. It sucks for Addison - being poked and prodded and given medicine a million times a day (that's what she'd say). But, when she smiles, she's really happy - it's not prneted. She is young enough to live IN THE MOMENT. Kara and Mark - you're brave! You make a great team for Addison.....she will flourish because of you. Work hard through the dark moments....so many are praying for you all.

It's been a lot of fun being "grandparents-to-be"! I didn't know it involved flowers and gifts! Seriously though, we couldn't be happier for them and we're looking forward to next year when God blesses us once again!
They're doing great.....kClare and Louisa are SOOO excited! We were just there in Chicago and it's so cute to watch them together! Louisa dotes on kClare! They're busy getting ready - thinking about the room and making decisions on things, so that was fun to watch. They want to have a Moms weekend in October so that Cynthia and I can participate in their registry process!
So, I'm looking forward to that.
The McKellaston Mommas are coming tomorrow for the weekend and they are bringing Phoebe, which will be interesting. I'm nervous about making it a good experience because, let's face it, next year there will be more trips that Phoebe will be included in! Stay posted!
It's exciting because Jessica is here this week also and spending some quality time with Mike!
So, this weekend, we will be doing some fun things.
When the weekend is over, I will take some time to do and post the scrapbook pages from the weekend! We had a lot of time celebrating the McKellaston Mommas and LudeMcDude's birthday!

But, in all my updating, the biggest news we have to share is that we are going to be grandparents!!!! We are so happy for kClare and Louisa and glad that this journey is going well! It was wonderful to get the news and now that kClare is about 12 weeks along, they have decided to share it with the world. They are happy to be able to do that.....I think they couldn't wait another minute! kClare is feeling much better and is due in March 2016.
It's been a little while since I've had a chance to write a post. We've been busy with "stuff" lately and trying to keep up with the "other stuff"! One of the biggest things is my friend, Karin had shoulder surgery, so I've been picking her up and taking her for coffee once a week and then on Saturday's I take her to the Weight Watchers meeting. Well, she got me hooked and I've finally decided to join again. I'm going to bite the bullet and join next Saturday. When I got all my gear out, I realized that on that VERY weekend in 2007 I did the same thing....bit the bullet and joined WW! I remember doing it as a birthday present to myself! I'm only about 8 lbs from my goal weight, so I got this. I've done well staying away from some of my favorite foods: chips, potatoes, bread, desserts and as much sugar as I can (that's not going well!!!) but it's been slower coming off this time. I'm down about 10 pounds since I started at the beginning of August and I admit that I'm taking it slow. I'm allowing myself some pleasures!
But one of the most horrific things that's happened is that our friends lost their 30 year old daughter. It was a very sad time and I know it will continue to be a very tough time for that family for years. So, we continue to pray for them!
I'm going to post a few more posts using my
scrapbook pages...so catch up with me!!!

Today, I went through the process of buying tickets for Garth Brooks....MAN what an experience. I don't think I've ever done it this way before! When we heard that the tickets were going on sale on Friday, August 21st at 10:00 AM, I put it on my calendar and I told my friend Karin (who I've been picking up and taking to coffee because she can't drive and she's going crazy) that I had to go early, so I could be home and ready! They announced that you could get into the QUEUE at 9AM and then the buying would begin at 10.
I was there; I was ready!
Had my phone, my credit card, my account ready and waiting!
In the queue, and ready to go, 10:00 came and it was a race to see what tickets I could get....they were good, so I put them in my "cart" and began the check out process. Each process of the purchase had a clock so that, of course, you were not sitting on merchandise for hours and not buying the tickets. But when it came to the actual check out part, it needed to be completed in THREE minutes and then the bottleneck began.
I started again.
I started again.
I began again.
"I'm sorry, there are no more tickets available."
So, I went to Friday night.
"Im sorry, there are no more tickets available."
Then, they added a late show on both Friday and Saturday and I couldn't even get those tickets even though they increased the amount of time to check out from 3 minutes to 8 minutes - it still was not enough for the overload.
Well....I won't drag this out, I'll just say that I sadly had to give up.
BUT.....Monday morning, I got a phone call from the Q Arena saying that because of the timed-out issue, my tickets are still available to me and that I needed to call within the next 24 hours and complete my transaction to get my tickets
I got tickets.

Today, we took Steve and Sue to Chez Francios in Vermilion for dinner as a thank you for something they did for us. It was a lot of fun and the restaurant is awesome. The weather was great, so we were able to walk around Vermilion, get some ice cream and watch a great sunset afterwards.
